I recently watched the movie Inkheart, which is based on the first book of Cornelia Funke's Inkworld series for children. It's about a girl who discovers that her father has certain magic powers when he reads books aloud. The movie has certain cheesy aspects, but I found it fairly charming nonetheless. The reason I'm recommendng it here is that the cast includes actors associated with a number of fandoms relevant to this community--Andy Serkis, Jim Broadbent, and Paul Bettany. Bettany was particularly awesome in his role of Dustfinger.
The film made me want to read the books, and I'm about halfway through the first one now. Has anyone else seen the movie or read the books? What did you think?
